The variety of buckle and strap styles provided for some initial fiddling about, as cabrio BC boots will, but testers liked the closure system once they worked out the bugs. Testers liked the updated features here, like a revised walk mode switch that they found easy and solid, and they liked the forward lean adjustment that offered a two-degrees more upright or more forward cuff position if needed. But the shell also feels quite close to the foot and the liner is spartan in its cushioning, so testers with wider or bonier feet found some hot spots to whine about. The boot feels close to the snow, with very little bulk separating foot movements from ground feel, and testers liked this performance trait for quick and sensitive steering and edging movements. Testers mentioned that the heel pocket and calf were particularly snug, which suited some of our testers perfectly. Three-piece shell with Pebax tongue for a smooth forward flex. Shell combines Grilamid with long-strand carbon to save weight. While the 102mm descriptor might indicate a wide fit, testers said that only related to the width at the forefoot, as the three-dimensional space was more snug-medium in fit character. 125 flex is Scarpas second stiffest Maestrale. Testers described something of a platypus bill as the foot shape required for the new Maestrale RS-wide at the toes and forefoot and low, vertically, through the instep and midfoot. The new Maestrale RS fit is not as universally mediumish or forgiving (read, well-padded) as its predecessor. wider or higher volume) the Maestrale RS's fit map, well, they were less enthused. For testers whose feet and legs fell outside (i.e. More than one tester commented on its on-area descent capabilities and its confidence-inspiring reliability in demanding terrain.įor the right feet and leg shapes the Maestrale's downhill game sealed the deal for testers as their new favorite BC boot. The 2018/2019 Scarpa Maestrale RS was tested in the men's Backcountry category at Silver Mountain Resort by the experts at America's Best Bootfitters, powered by Masterfit. This boot delivered real alpine-level power to the edge, testers said, and while they said it was energetic and springy feeling, it wasn't fidgety and remained damp-enough when controlling big skis at speed over variable snow surfaces. This is a power-packed minimalist uphill-downhill machine, testers said, pointing to the carbon core inserts in the lower shell and cuff as the light and rigid foundation that bolstered the Grilamid Bio and Pebax R-New plastics' transmissive qualities. The new Maestrale RS is the perfect blend of performance and backcountry functionality. As expected the Maestrale RS didn't lose a step in its uphill game, with testers loving its stride length, smooth quality and light weight upon the foot-as usual. But, as with most change, there were good things to look forward to as well in this same-name but very different Maestrale RS-particularly how well it skis! Testers gave the new Maestrale RS a perfect 5.00 in Edge Power, the highest score in that metric across the board in the Backcountry category. Testers were a little bittersweet about the new Scarpa Maestrale RS because, well, they really liked the old Maestrale RS. I loved it, and all three brothers I’ve shared it with since I read the book also enjoyed it. She also wrote Escape the Vortex, part of the multiplatform sci-fi adventure series Voyagers. Born in 1944, she is well known to readers for her work on the popular series, the Book of Ember. There was also some dishonesty and sneaking around that went on that didn’t sit so well with me.īut overall, this was a fun, engaging story with a slight mystery element and a strong emphasis on friendship and working together for the greater good. Jeanne DuPrau is an American author of fiction. She lives in Menlo Park, California, and drives a hybrid car that runs on a combination of gas and electricity. It had a feminist slant (the female characters were expected to work alongside and do the same things the men did), and that bothered me a little. Jeanne DuPrau is the author of The New York Timesbestseller The City of Ember and its companion The People of Sparks. Duff Pringle is heading across the country, aiming for his new job in technology in Californias Silicon Valley. I didn’t agree with everything in the story. Car Trouble is a novel by Jeanne DuPrau published in 2005 about a man named Duff Pringle who travels across the country for a dream job. I may or may not have invented jobs for myself just so I could keep listening-I love it when a book does that to me! I was engrossed in the story from nearly the first page, and I had a hard time putting the book down when I had to go do other things. Instead of taking a regular job, she joined the Peace Corps and was sent to India (1963-1965). The characters themselves were also dynamic, a little foolish at times, and courageous-everything you could want in good characters, really. The City of Ember Try: Lionboy by Zizou Corder Nancy Farmer Nancy was born in 1941 in Phoenix. DuPrau did an amazing job creating this story world, and I had a lot of fun exploring it through the eyes of the characters. What a unique, fun story! Admittedly, I haven’t read that many dystopian or sci-fi books, so I could be wrong about my assessment of the book, but it felt like one of the most unique settings I’ve ever found myself in inside a book. win=1: The first non-altered Find window is used (i.e.win=0: The frontmost Find window is used (and its input is replaced). The value is a number that specifies which Find window shall be used (only relevant if you have FAF already running, with multiple Find windows opened). If you do not specify this parameter, then the default location of the Find window or of the chosen template (see below) will be used. A classic HFS path such as loc=Macintosh%20HD:System or loc=External%20Disk (there doesn't need to be a colon at the end).A file URL such as loc=file:///System ( PopClip passes those).A Unix (POSIX) path such as loc=/System, or starting with ~ for the user's home folder (e.g.Specifies the location(s) where the search shall take place. If you do not specify any inp parameters, the search will not start automatically. In order to control these rules, you need to create Search Templates (see below). Rules that provide only a pop-up menu, such as Kind and Is a folder, cannot be altered by inp parameters. Note, however, that you can specify values only for rules that have a textual input field, i.e. Once you have done this, you can fill in these additional fields as well. However, you can add more rules and then use the menu bar, under File / Save as Default Search to have more input fields by default. inp is equivalent to inp1.īy default, the Find window only has one input field, for Name contains. These fill in the value into the first, or second, third etc., input fields in the Find window. Thus, opening FAF with both providing an inp and a loc parameter, the entire URL is made up of these parts: fafapp://find? If more than one parameter gets added, they need to be separated by an ampersand ( &). The URL consists of a prefix, which is always the same: fafapp://find?Īfter this prefix, one or more parameters can be added, each of which has a name (such as inp and loc), followed by an equal sign ( =) and a value (which needs to %-encode some characters such as a blank ( %20), # ( %23), % ( %25), & ( %26) and = ( %3D)). Some characters have special meaning in the URL, and therefore you cannot directly pass them if you want to search for them in a file name.įor instance, if you wanted to find a file name containing a #, %, & or a =, you need to encode them (as %23, %25, %26 and %3D).įurthermore, any blanks (spaces) need to be written as %20.įor example, a search string entered in FAF as text #5 need to be encoded as follows: fafapp://find?inp=text%20%235 The same search, searching the entire startup volume, and with swapped inp and loc parameters: fafapp://find?inp=invoice&loc=/ The same search, but also specifying that the search should be limited to your home folder: fafapp://find?loc=~&inp=invoice If you paste the above line into your web browser and press Return, it should open FAF and start the search by filling "invoice" into the first input field (which is, by default: Name contains …). Here is an example for a URL that opens FAF and starts a search for "invoice": fafapp://find?inp=invoice Note: This feature requires FAF version 2.3.3 or later. A command line / shell tool ( Terminal.app).This web page explains how to invoke FAF from programs such as: Invoking Find Any File from other applications via a URL Compatible with version 2 in regards to preferences and.Can search by Kind (Images, Audio, etc.).Shows results as soon as they're found.Includes Spotlight for even faster results.Does not remove Volumes from Login Items any more.Icons in Preview Grid should look correct again. You can now save and re-open the results. The Find window doesn't get excessively wide any more.Works with Alfred, Keyboard Maestro, PopClip etc.Search for and display Date Last Opened and Date Added.Fixes some critical search issues with macOS Catalina and El Capitan.
